Malcolm Burleigh Elected Executive Director of AGUSM

The General Council of the Assemblies of God is pleased to announce that Malcolm Burleigh has been elected Executive Director of its U.S. Missions division. Election of top executives is a part of the organization’s biennial General Council, held this year August 8–11 in Anaheim, California.

Rev. Burleigh has served since 2009 as the senior director of the Intercultural Ministries department in U.S. Missions. His background also includes eighteen years as senior pastor at Living Faith Assembly of God in Tampa, Florida. Prior to his service at Living Faith, he was senior associate pastor at Belmont Assembly of God in Chicago, Illinois. While pastoring, Rev. Burleigh held leadership roles in the Peninsular Florida district of the Assemblies of God. He also served as the president of the National Black Fellowship of the Assemblies of God from 2008 to 2012. He and his wife, Maria, have three adult children, four grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

Zollie Smith, retiring U.S. Missions executive director, says, “It has been a privilege to labor alongside Malcolm Burleigh these eight years in U.S. Missions. I am thrilled to pass the baton to him and I know he will take U.S. Missions to the next level.”

As Executive Director of U.S. Missions, Rev. Burleigh will lead a division of seven departments serving nearly two thousand missionaries and chaplains, plus missionary associates and volunteers. He will serve as a member of the Executive Leadership Team and the Executive Presbytery, the highest elected governing body of the Assemblies of God.
