As senior director for Chaplaincy Ministries, Manny Cordero leads the efforts of Assemblies of God U.S. chaplains internationally.
Prior to his appointment as senior director, Manny served as the Correctional Ministries representative for Chaplaincy Ministries. He is ordained with the Pennsylvania/Delaware district, and has been in prison ministry for forty years. Manny also serves as the president for The Coalition of Prison Evangelists, as the recording secretary for the American Correctional Chaplains Association, and is a board member for the Oasis City Youth Foundation, and the Correctional Ministries and Chaplains Association.
Prior to his service with the Chaplaincy Ministries office, Manny ministered in the Federal Bureau of Prisons for almost twenty-four years. His last assignment was as an assistant to the Chief of Chaplains in Washington, D.C. He also served as an associate pastor at Oasis City Church in Philadelphia from 2001 to 2009.
He has served as an adjunct professor at Nyack College (Washington, D.C.), Wheaton College (Illinois), and the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary (Missouri). He conducts workshops and seminars internationally on prison ministry, pastoral care, and marriage and family.
Manny received his bachelor’s degree from Central Bible College (Springfield, MIssouri), a master’s of divinity from the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary, and a doctorate in Marriage and Family Therapy from Palmer Seminary (Philadephia).
Manny was born in Manhattan and grew up in Puerto Rico. He and his wife of almost forty years, Christine, have two adult children and six grandchildren.
