Wayne Huffman was appointed senior director of Intercultural Ministries in November 2017.
Wayne brings to Intercultural Ministries decades of ministry experience in a variety of cultures. Together with his wife, Drue, he served as assistant pastor of a French Assemblies of God church in Paris, France. The Huffmans then returned to the United States to pastor a growing church in a French-speaking area of Louisiana. In 1990, they were appointed as the first resident Assemblies of God world missionaries to Romania, where they oversaw a variety of ministries.
After twelve years in Romania, the Huffmans transferred to Western Europe. They helped to develop Assemblies of God policy on ministry to the large number of immigrants and refugees entering the European continent. Their work also involved discovering refugee churches and bringing them into the Pentecostal fellowships of Western Europe.
Wayne and Drue returned to the U.S. in 2010 to serve stateside with AG World Missions. They quickly saw the changing dynamics in America’s inner cities and began reaching out to the immigrant communities in Phoenix, Arizona.
In 2014, the Huffmans transferred to U.S. Missions as Intercultural missionaries, and began ministry to the refugees and immigrants entering the United States. Convinced that the Lord is sending refugees to our doorstep to hear the gospel, the Huffmans have actively sought out immigrant pastors and served as the bridge to help them successfully plant ethnic churches in the U.S.A. The Huffmans also helped a team of dedicated Romanian immigrants start a thriving children's ministry in the inner city of Phoenix, AZ. An Arabic Bible School was also started, through an Assemblies of God pastor from Jordan who immigrated to the U.S.A. This school exists to train a future generation of Arabs to reach their people in the United States for Christ as well as an internet based Arabic television program.
As an experienced missionary, Wayne walks alongside Intercultural Ministries missionaries to resource and encourage them as they take the gospel to unreached people groups in the United States.
The Huffmans have a son and daughter-in-law, Adrian and Christina, who live in Arizona.
