As senior director for Church Mobilization, Billy Thomas oversees the Church Mobilization missionaries, the ministry of the RV Volunteer program, and the Church Mobilization missionary associates. The RV Volunteers initiative connects people of various skills to work on church and ministry building projects. From young adults to retirees, RV Volunteers is an active way to participate in ministry. The Church Mobilization missionary associate program is designed to give people who may not hold credentials with the Assemblies of God the opportunity to give a year or two to support missions work in America. Many Church Mobilization missionary associates assist missionaries in day-to-day operations as well as ministry events and opportunities.
Prior to coming to Springfield, Billy was the lead pastor at Refuge Church in Perry, Georgia. Billy and his wife, Valerie, pioneered this church in 2004. During their time at Refuge Church, Billy oversaw three different building projects that utilized RV volunteers and associates. Before his time as a church planter, Billy traveled as an evangelist, and has been in ministry for twenty-nine years.
Billy and his wife, Valerie, have two adult children, La Nita and BJ.
