Become a Missionary

Congratulations on your call to full-time missions here in the United States! We look forward to helping you along the process.

A great place for you to start is by reading God Is Calling You. What’s Next? This magazine is a great introduction to the work of U.S. Missions, its seven Windows, the different ways you can be involved in U.S. Missions, and it includes the steps you need to pursue full-time, fully appointed missionary work. (Or, you can download the magazine.) This is a great explanation on the benefits of becoming a U.S. missionary, and here is a good overview of the steps to becoming a fully appointed U.S. missionary.

Another resource is the U.S. Missions Missionary Manual. This is a great tool to help you understand and navigate the process of being a U.S. missionary.

Become a Missionary Associate

Interested in serving through missions but not sure God is calling to you become a career missionary?

U.S. Missions has a place for you!

A missionary associate is someone who is at least eighteen years old and wants to serve in U.S. Missions full time. A missionary associate receives on-the-job training and works under the supervision of a nationally appointed U.S. missionary or other ministry leader in a variety of roles.

You don't have ministry credentials? No problem! In U.S. Missions, you don't have to be a credential holder to become a missionary associate. You can be a bookkeeper, Web designer, videographer ... whatever skills you have, we know missionaries who would be glad to have you on their team.

Become a Missionary Intern

Missionary intern?! Is that a thing?

Someone who is considering full-time missions can serve as a missionary intern. A missionary intern receives supervised, on-the-job training to prepare for a variety of leadership roles. A typical internship is at least ten months, but can be longer depending on the requirements of each U.S. Missions department.

Become a Missionary In Training

A missionary in training is someone who is credentialed with the Assemblies of God and chooses to serve in a two-year apprenticeship on the field under the supervision of a qualified U.S. missionary or minister. Most often, a missionary in training is a recent Bible school graduate.

This unique opportunity places divinely called people in apprenticeships to gain valuable field and ministry experience for a life in missions as a future career U.S. missionary.

If you are interested in learning more about the missionary in training opportunity, please e-mail us or call (417) 862–2781, ext. 3254.
